Ceremony Checklist
Here are a few important facts and tips to help your wedding ceremony go smoothly and stress-free.
Before Your Wedding
-
Make sure that you book your officiant as soon as you book your venue or when you plan your date and time.
-
Go to the City Clerk's office and apply for your Marriage License. You must have a Marriage License to legally marry in Ontario. This can be done up to 3 months prior to your wedding day and you can download the application at ServiceOntario.ca
-
Call your officiant the week before your wedding to touch base and confirm your details.
On Your Wedding Day...
-
Be sure to have your Marriage License as it is a mandatory part of your ceremony.
-
Give your Marriage License to your wedding planner or a trusted guest in the event that you will not be at the venue early.
-
Your officiant will arrive 15 - 30 minutes prior to the designated start time. Make sure they know who they need to meet to collect the Marriage License and Payment before the ceremony begins.
-
Make sure that you eat and stay hydrated on your wedding day. If not, you may become low in energy, low in blood sugar and then become faint and hangry. :)
After Your Wedding Day....
-
Your officiant will leave you with a copy of your Record of Solemnization of Marriage. This is the only copy that exists so please don't lose it.
-
Your officiant will mail your Marriage License within 48 hours of the ceremony.
-
6-8 weeks after your wedding date, you can apply for a Marriage Certificate by going to ServiceOntario.ca
-
Stay happy for the rest of your lives.
